We hope that through one rug, we can change the atmosphere of a room, and soften the heart of the people who live in it.

The Beginning of SHIKIMONO

Before founding SHIKIMONO, I spent nearly nine years working in the internet and brand marketing industry. While helping many brands grow, I gradually realized: I wanted to create something that truly reflected my own values.

The inspiration came from a Japanese interior designer friend, Masato. During one conversation, he asked:
“Why don’t you create a rug brand?”

In Japan, rugs are a natural part of everyday life — yet products that offer both design and quality often come with a high price. So we made a different choice: to create rugs that are beautiful, well-crafted, and still accessible to more people.

What We Do

We pay attention to every detail — the yarn selection, weaving density, the warmth of color, and how light moves across the surface.

Every design begins with one question:
“How will it feel when it becomes part of someone’s home?”

From natural wool to eco-friendly polypropylene, from handcrafted custom rugs to modern easy-care collections, we pursue a balance between beauty and practicality — always.

Our Design Team

SHIKIMONO is built by an international team based across Tokyo, Hangzhou, and Hong Kong, including interior designers, product designers, textile specialists, and color researchers.

Different cultural backgrounds, one shared belief: to make nature, balance, and tranquility the foundation of daily life.
