SHIKIMONO was founded on a simple belief: a beautiful home begins with thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and pieces that stand the test of time.

How SHIKIMONO Began

Before founding SHIKIMONO, I spent nearly nine years working in internet business and brand marketing.

While helping many brands grow, I gradually realized that I wanted to create something that truly reflected my own values: products that people would enjoy living with for years to come.

The inspiration came from a conversation with my friend Masato, a Japanese interior designer. One day, he simply asked, "Why don't you create a rug brand?"

That question became the beginning of SHIKIMONO. We saw an opportunity to create rugs that combine thoughtful design, exceptional craftsmanship, and lasting quality for modern homes.

What We Create

Every SHIKIMONO rug begins with one simple question: "How will this feel as part of someone's home?"

From carefully selected materials and weaving techniques to texture, color, and proportion, every detail is considered with purpose.

SHIKIMONO is created by an international team based in Tokyo, Hangzhou, and Hong Kong. Each city contributes its own expertise.
